Recently, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced more than $1.8 billion in 2010 preparedness grants designed to help states and urban areas - among others - to enhance their protection, prevention, response and recovery capabilities.  Water and wastewater utilities are federally designated Critical Infrastructure and first responders, making them eligible for security grant monies.

National environmental consulting firm, Malcolm Pirnie, Inc., has finalized the previously announced merger with ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), an international consultancy, design, engineering and management services company, headquartered in the Netherlands, with U.S. headquarters in Denver, Colorado. All internal shareholders voted in favor of the merger, showing that this major step is fully supported by management and senior staff of the company.
